GROVE 275 Ton: The Largest Crane in Our Fleet

Hodges Trucking recently added a 275-ton crane to its 14-crane fleet, enabling Hodges to better serve the rig-moving industry. “Cranes are an integral part of our business” said Jimmy Hodges, Vice President, Operations. “In the early 1960s, Hodges was the first company to introduce them into the rig-moving industry.”

Depending on the size of the rig, some require up to three cranes in order to disassemble in a safe manner. Using a larger tonnage crane allows one crane to take the place of two. As a result, Hodges is able to leave a smaller footprint on rigsites and reduce operating costs.

“The Grove 275 Ton is considered a monster in the oilfield,” said Steve Fisbeck, Crane Manager. “These days it’s not only important to have larger cranes, but the newer technology of this equipment allows Hodges to stay ahead of the curve in the rig-moving business.”
